Happy Birthday Everett!

One year ago today, my baby boy was born and our world was turned upside down. And I wouldn’t change it for anything! I was 40 weeks pregnant and at my doctor’s appointment when the decision to induce was made. I hadn’t made any progress as far as dilating and contractions go, and my baby was getting bigger and bigger. My doctor’s felt it would be best to set up an appointment for induction in a week and if I still had not progressed then we would go ahead with it. So on September 2nd at 5am (and 41weeks) I showed up to San Antonio Community expecting to have a baby by that night. As I would soon find out, nothing ever goes as expected when you are a mom. My induction began and nothing happened. All of my family were visiting and anxiously awaiting the arrival of our baby boy. My brother had even taken the night off work to meet his first nephew. But my stubborn little boy was not ready to be born. After a day and a half long induction, Everett Dillon was born at 7:36pm on Wednesday September 3rd. He weighed 8 pounds and was 20 inches long. He was the most adorable thing I had ever seen! He had lots of brown hair and big dark blue eyes. He had the sweetest, softest cry and big pouty lips. Jeremy and I were in love!
The next few months are a blur. I don’t really remember much of them, but we have lots of pictures! I had 4 months off of work and then started back very slow working only 1 or 2 days a week for the next few months. Jeremy also had a full 6 weeks off, so we got a lot of bonding time with our new little man. Life as a parent has been amazing. My little boy has made me so happy and our lives have been forever changed.
Today he is so much fun and changing every minute. He walks (runs) everywhere, puts everything in his mouth, and has to touch everything. His new hobby is rearranging all of our furniture. He also loves to shake his head “no” and laugh every time I tell him not to do something. He is a daredevil and loves to be thrown in the air or spun in circles. He likes spinning anything that will move and loves all kinds of motion. He loves his blankie and sucking his thumb. He is a great baby and follows his daily routine so well. He even goes to bed every night without any help from mom or dad and without crying. He is just amazing and I love him more everyday!
So happy 1st birthday little boy! We are so proud of all your accomplishments this year and are so thrilled that you are in our lives! We love you!

Aquarium of the Pacific

Jeremy and I had a rare day off together yesterday and decided to take Everett out to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. He had a great time looking at all the fish, sharks, and jellies. He also started doing a new "smile" when we tell him to say cheese for the camera.....

...so cheesy, but we love it!

First Haircut

Last week Everett received his very first haircut! It was so special to us because we had his haircut done by John, the barber who did my brother's very first haircut 28 years ago! My dad and my brother still receive haircuts from John now, even though they live about 30 miles from his barber shop. The picture above is of Chris when they first cut his blond curly hair. The picture didn't come out very well, but you get the idea!

Everett before....

And Everett during...

He loved the clippers...I think they tickled his neck!

....And after....

What a handsome little boy!

7 years ago on July 12th, Jeremy and I were married in a beautiful wedding ceremony in San Diego. We had such an amazing day and most of our guests stayed until the early morning hours! I haven't seen these pictures in years, so it was great to relive the day through our photos.

I am so lucky to be married to the most amazing man. Jeremy is such a wonderful husband and father and sometimes I wonder how I got so lucky!
